Fox future in doubt E-mail

It has emerged that the future of Damian Fox as Laois Senior Hurling manager may be in doubt with the Tullamore native set to meet with Laois County Board officials on Tuesday.

It's believed that the Laois manager was disappointed with the turnout at a training session in Clonad on Saturday, with rumours immediately circulating that he was set to leave the position.

However contrary to this morning's newspaper reports Fox has not quit as Laois manager.

An emergency meeting has been called for Tuesday night in Portlaoise to decide the next step of action to take. The Chairman and Secretary of each of the hurling clubs in Laois will be in attendance along with members of the Laois Hurling Board and County Executive. Damien Fox and his selectors will also be present.

It is hoped that the meeting will iron out issues in relation to the absence of a number of players from Laois team training in recent weeks.

Fox will not be commenting on the issue until after Tuesday's meeting in which it is expected he will reveal if he will stay on as Laois manager.

Laois will face either Galway or Antrim in the GAA All-Ireland Hurling qualifiers.
