Following a misfiring evening against Longford at Pearse Park, Laois forwards Ross Munnelly and MJ Tierney have been dropped by O’Moore’s manager Liam Kearns, for this Saturday’s Round 2 All-Ireland SFC Qualifier against Down at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise.

In a game which saw Munnelly raise only one white flag, and Tierney converting just three frees; Sheehan and St. Joseph’s attacker Colm Kelly have been preferred by Kearns instead of Munnelly and Tierney.

Kerry native Billy Sheehan slots in at left-half forward, with Barry Brennan moving to the right wing and Brian McCormack in the centre.

On the full-forward line Colm Parkinson moves to the right corner, with Kelly slotting in at full-forward beside Donal Kingston on the other wing.

2003 All-Star Joe Higgins in back in the O’Moore’s defence, with the St. Joseph’s player preferred to Cathal Ryan on the full-back line. Meanwhile Pauric Clancy returns from injury to partner Brendan Quigley at midfield, with John O’Loughlin losing out.

There's also good news for defender Mark Timmons, who returns from injury. However the defender, who started in Laois' win over Wicklow has been held in reserve for Saturday's game.

Laois (SF v Down): Michael Nolan; Cahir Healy, Darren Rooney, Joe Higgins; Peter O’Leary, Tom Kelly, Pauric McMahon; Pauric Clancy, Brendan Quigley; Barry Brennan, Brian McCormack, Billy Sheehan; Colm Parkinson, Colm Kelly (St. Joseph’s), Donal Kingston.
