Liam Kearns future as Laois Senior football manager isn’t under any threat, despite his sides’ six-point loss to Wexford in the Leinster Senior Football Championship at Croke Park on Sunday. The Laois County Board Executive met on Monday night, however the position of the Laois Senior football management was not discussed, with the main focus pertaining to hurling management issues.

25,555 watched on as Wexford qualified for their first Leinster Senior Football Final since 1956, following a six point win over Laois at Croke Park today. It may have been a mixed afternoon for Kilanerin scoring ace Matty Forde, six points from the corner forward, but he also misfired on seven occasions. However he and his Wexford colleagues were just relieved that after four losses at the penultimate stage in as many years they had finally managed to reach the decider at the fifth attempt.

Munnelly cautious ahead of Wexford clash E-mail

Arles/Kilcruise ace Ross Munnelly has more reasons than most to be looking forward to this Sunday's Leinster Senior Football Championship tie against Wexford. Munnelly made his Senior Championship debut for Laois five years ago against the men from the South East on a wet day at Croke Park, a game which Laois won by 12 points, and ultimately went on two months later to take a first Leinster SFC crown in 57 years.

Munnelly told Laois.stoked.ie Sports Editor Cóilín Duffy that nothing will be easy this weekend against the Slaneysiders, whom Laois beat at the penultimate stage last year, but the Wexfordmen were victorious over Liam Kearns' side at Bellefield, Enniscorthy in January's O'Byrne Cup meeting.
