Goals win games and that was exactly the case at Páirc Tailteann, Navan as Antrim secured their Liam McCarthy Cup status for 2009, thanks to a goal in either half from Shane McNaughton and Paddy Richmond, powering the Saffrons to an eight-point win.

Laois manager Niall Rigney has made sweeping changes to his side for tomorrow's All-Ireland Senior Hurling playoff against Antrim, at Páirc Tailteann, Navan. Just four players will start in the same positions, from the side that lost to Galway.

Laois Senior hurlers have received a timely boost ahead of their GAA All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Qualifier against Galway at Pearse Stadium this Saturday (3.30pm), with the news that Darren Rooney, Cahir Healy and John O'Loughlin have returned to the panel.

Within the last few minutes Laois County Board officials and members of Hurling clubs in the county have gathered to hear the future of Damian Fox and his selectors as the Laois Senior Hurling management team, at an emergency meeting in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise.
